what kind of scanner do you use cause every time i scan one of my sketches it comes up looking like crap

hp scanjet 8200
the scanner itself is nice, but ever since upgrading to vista it feels like i'm not getting the same scan quality i used to on my old computer :B i think the software for vista 64-bit is funky, or maybe i'm just dumb and can't remember all my old settings!

i still have my old computer, but i lent its power cord out to someone, and they never returned it T_T; recently i had to rip its hard drives out just to get some old files off them, haha...
