Personally, I really dig seeing something that could be perceived as a little more "risque" coming from you. I've been fond of your work since it was hosted on Tripod years ago (I think I was maybe eight or nine, hah, and just totally fell in love with your vibrant colors [something I still can't grasp very well] and use of line) and recently have looked at your success as an example of what I should aspire to accomplish.

I think some cultural perceptions of tentacle art are significantly skewed due in part to hentai becoming a popular "Look at this weird/quirky/cute/inexplicable thing that Japan does!" thing (although historically, Western comics are just as guilty [the original artist for Superman did fetish art! Look it up!]). Tentacle art has often been perceived as a phallic euphemism in Japanese art, with shunga art being a real genre of at least 200 years of age. It was definitely a business to be in as, for many years, blatant depictions of male anatomy were outlawed/taboo/not cool bro in Japan. The rapey connotations, while NOT nonexistent in the past, didn't reach popularity until the late 20th/early 21st century when it became less of a social stigma to like anime in the US, etc., as well as once licensing and distribution of anime became easier/more common in nations outside of Japan.

People also tend to forget that Japanese culture is not always, necessarily, welcoming of others, and their gender roles are not the same as those of Western culture (I'm not saying better, I'm not saying worse; just different). Likewise, Western culture isn't always so open to things that are different, either (colonial cultures tend to have that "our way is the only way!" mindset).

Also, if you want to see some morally compromising, potentailly erotic Western art, you can look at Bosch. I mean, I know that he wasn't outwardly attempting to be erotic, but butt flowers in Hell can imply different things to each viewer. Art's mostly subjective, too.

TL;DR: No, really. Shunga art. Erotic art does not always equal rapey. Rad piece, happy to see it.

The artwork is good. However I have always found the tentacle fetish to be a nasty one little better than rape fetish.
